Mountains and Wonders of the landscapes in the south of Corsica : Alta Rocca Mountain « the High Rocks »
Here is a 3 to 4-day hiking tour aiming at discovering the treasures of the South of Corsica, the ones you can only see by walking through paths and trails : high plateau, granitic dolomites, paradise of flowers and wonderful waterholes and rivers.
Physical condition : good - be aware that our trails are very rocky with some steps
Level : medium to difficult / 5 to 10 hours per day

D1: BAVELLA DOLOMITES : Arrival at 10,50 am at FIGARI AIRPORT - Transfer from Figari airport to Bavella pass (1h30): The geological curiosities of Bavella:a great loop to excavations, minarets and Calanca Murata or Punta Aracale Summit with a steep climb to the walled summit, walking techniques to access to the « bomb »hole known as U Compuleddu + / - 200 to 600m. 3 to 5h.
Dinner and night in a B&B dorm or room just under the pass through the wonderful pine forest.
D2 : ALPINE ROUTE THROUGH BAVELLA DOLOMITES : We will walk on the famous GR20 trail, the most difficult in Europe, then we will climb the alpine route through the granitic towers with a part where you have to use a chain.
After the crests and passes, we will have the choice either to keep going on the alpine route to get down to the Gr20 and sleep at Asinau Bivouac'spot (+750/-450M, 5h) or to stay off tracks under the towers until the Maro' s pass leading to great summits : Punta Furnellu and A Muvrareccia. (+1035/-920m – 7 to 8h)
Night under the stars at Asinau's place or in the hut at Tova's place – dinner that you have carried during the day to prepare all together.
D2 or3: ALCUDINA SUMMIT & CUSCIONU PLATEAU : We will get back to Asinau Pass and shepherds huts in order to climb the highest summit of the southern part of GR20 : Alcudina (2134m) that overlooks the Cuscionu's plateau : a summer paradise for goats, pigs, horses running free along nice rivers with waterholes and pozzines, a soft grass area where we will have a rest before getting to Croci shepherd's huts and bivouac place – a great sunset and a night under the stars in a tent: +1150/-920 m (+1610/-1380m through Muvrareccia and Furnellu peaks + Furcinchesi waterholes): 7 to 11h – great sunset at Croci'sshepherd huts - night under the stars in a tent for 2 with mastress
D3 or 4: we will cross along the plateau including an option to ascend a peak (Castellu di Rinucciu) to have a great panoramic view on the GR20, the waterholes and even the sea before getting down along the Codi river with its great water holes that will tempt you to bath and rest. +150 to 300/- 650 to 800m - 4 h30 to 6 hours – Meeting point at Jallicu at 1pm - Transfer to Figari airport (time to drive : 1h30 - flight at 4,15pm)
Practical information and booking conditions :
Each participant is carrying a 3- day backpack including water (2l minimum) and picnic, clothes to protect from the sun, rain and cold, sleeping bag.
Nota: the mountain guide reserves the right to change any or all of the routes for safety reasons in case of emergency depending on weather conditions and the level of the group. He/she reserves the right to refuse the participation of an individual whose equipment would not match the featured list and stop any participant whose physical ability or behaviour would not fit with the conduct of the circuit without any right to compensation from TREKORS. Any modification of your program will be made at your expense (eg in case of insufficient fitness level).
Subscriptions will be effective upon reception of the registration form as well as an advance fee of 30% of the total amount of the journey. In case of booking less than 30 days before the departure, the total amount must be paid upon registration. You will receive order confirmation, an invoice and additional information if necessary.
The total amount of the trip has to be paid 30 days before the departure.
